Can't believe it's almost two months since my last entry...oh, yes, I can believe it. I'm so bad at this!
Well, as it turns out my concerns about the Twitter tweeterwall entries that were merely humans, stuffed toys or cartoons instead of real dogs were the least of issues to be concerned about. As that round of competitions ended and a new one began, the real cheats came to the forefront. The blatantly dishonest vote bot users.
It's all too complicated and sordid to talk about. I withdrew myself from the competition and doubt I'll get involved in anything like it ever again. It looked like it was going to be such fun & there were lots of Pug participants, but the cheats ruined everything.
It's the way of the world.
Last time I was begging for votes for a Twitter friend. Now I'm making a statement. This voting stuff isn't always a fair thing.
Cesar Millan would be proud of me. I am a calm submissive Pug. Happy to be with my humans, get along well with other animals...well, most of the time...sometimes Lucy the cat gets a bit pushy. Of course, it helps that I'm the "resident" Pug. I've been here the longest, so the others naturally give me respect. But that's beside the point. The point is that I'm really laid back and easy going.
Until...injustice...deceit...outright lies! Oh, I can get riled for a good reason! That happened last week. One of my Twitter pals was entered into a competition for "Top Animal Twitter." She asked for our Pug votes through Twitter & many of us responded. But guess what I discovered?? Several of those who were entered were NOT animals, but were humans using their pets as a cover! Why, one of the entrants didn't even OWN the animal they used as an avatar! And the clearly stated FIRST rule of the competition is that it is for animals, not for persons or groups.
I was livid with indignation! I growled for hours as I plumbed the depths of their corruption and found out they're all ganged up together! Naturally, I informed my own Tweeps about what was going on and in a general uprising we were able to promote my friend to the #3 spot & shut out the cheaters. Now, mind you, those cats in the #1 and #2 places are legit, so we have no quarrel there. Winning is nice, but it's not everything. What is really important is standing up for truth, justice and the Pug way!
Woof!
I've been campaigning for votes for a Twitter friend, @Baychildcare on the twitterwall
Who knows what the outcome will be, but I've had some fun.
OK, I know it's too early. But it's HOT! We're in a two year drought and stuff is dying. Mom's depressed 'cause she isn't fond of deserts. I'm not a fan of heavy & hearty activity, but it's almost more than I can do to get out and make my "rounds" unless it's very very early afore it gets too hot. And that's all I will say about that until my next entry.
Twitter is so much fun. I've got over 140 followers and would have many more but that Mom keeps deleting those who don't seem to be my "type." She's weird...one of my pugpals died and Mom was depressed for days. She's gotta quit taking this stuff so seriously!
Dad built a pole barn for the horses & is in process of adding on a hay storage area. Mom wants a pen for her chickens. Ya know, we've got way too many animals needing way too much attention! I've missed a few rides into town 'cause Dad had other stuff to do!
Woof!
Well, it's getting to be that time of year again when Mom's thoughts turn to digging in the dirt. Not to bury bones, of course. Hehehe.
I'm looking forward to a bit of warm weather myself. Maybe I'll be a bit less "creaky" in the joints. Mom gives BJ and me some kinda joint meds, but I think a good soak in the sunshine would help more. But what do I know? I'm a dog, fur goodness sake!
Mom did buy a sorta long rug to put on the stairs to help me go up and down without slipping and falling. We tried it out a bit yesterday and looks like it might work, but she's got to get the things that will hold it in place. Hope it works 'cause it's inconvenient having to be carried down the stairs every time I need to go outside.
Woof!
Yeah, I know everyone is saying that right about now. For me and mine, I hope it's gonna happen. 2008 wasn't our best year, ya know, and just in the last week I lost a cat friend and Mom lost a cancer treatment friend.
My cat friend, Tut, was here when I arrived. Mom's brother found him and 4 siblings in a dumpster at a convenience store. That was about 10 years ago. Since then, Tut accepted all the stray cats and the new Pug additions. He was great friends with Hooter and Pippin and frequently cuddled with them on the upper deck.
MsPogie, BJ and I are all feeling the years. MsPogie is almost 14 and is now blind. BJ will be 13 in March and has arthritis pretty bad. I'm not so old, but I'm now intimidated by the stairs. But we all look forward to a good 2009.
Woof!
Buddy is the first
Dad's got a brand new truck and now he and Mom are eyeballing Buddy as the "truck" dog. Inside, of course. I don't know how that's going to work out. After all, I'm the main easy rider...always....right?
And I wasn't even having that much fun! Ok, it's been a long time but I have excuses..er, reasons. I'm a dog. I live in the NOW (ask Cesar Millan about that!) and sometimes my NOW is just too "occupied" to sit and compose a blog entry. Then sometimes my NOW is empty of interesting items to tell about. Once in a while I just don't have the words to talk about what is going on. The past year and a half has been rough at times.
One of the bright spots was Mom and Dad's vacation back in September '07. They took an Alaskan cruise and all us furkids had our "Uncle Fred" babysitting. He's a pushover & lets us get away with all kinds of stuff Mom would be scolding us about.
But then in December, Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to go through the surgery, chemotherapy & radiation treatments. Not much fun for any of us and I stuck really close 'cause she needed me.
We also found out my friend and erstwhile companion, Muttley is no longer with us. He became very ill and had to be euthanized. That made my mom really sad.
Summer was too hot, too dry and too long and Mom lost some of her favorite plants 'cause she couldn't get out and take care of things. I would have helped, but I couldn't turn on the water faucet and Pug spit just didn't do the job!
It's cooling off now and Mom's feeling better. We have new plants and new hope.
Over at my other blog, dollarshort.org, I'm blogging frequently during the DonorsChoose.org Blogger Challenge. Please check out this post about the challenge and how you can support the kids.
